CSA launches the Augustinian Rosary PDF Print E-mail

The Augustinian Formation Office, under the Augustinian Formation and Religious Affairs (AFRA) and in cooperation with the Campus Ministry and Religious Education Department (RED) spearheaded the launching of  the Corona of Our Lady of Consolation, also dubbed as the Augustinian Rosary. The event was held yesterday October 1, 2013 in CSA Audi gym at 7:30 AM.

Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA, school President and VP for AFRA, in his opening remarks during the launching exhorted the value of praying the rosary. This devotional practice can help us get closer to God for it is all about the mysteries in the life of Christ Jesus. He mentioned that the title of Our Mother of Consolation has been one of the principal devotions to Mary within the Augustinian Order at least since the 17th century. However, aside from the traditional five-decade-rosary, there is also another way of praying it in theAugustinian tradition.

The school Campus Minister, Rev. Fr. Jose R. Gonzales, OSA, led the recitation of the rosary. Selected students, employees and parents (twelve) read the twelve Articles of Christian Faith. Each of them was recited and meditated on through some reflections taken from the different works of St. Augustine. After each article a brief silence ensued; then the Lord’s Prayer and the Hail Mary were prayed. This process was repeated up to the last article with Marian songs. It ended with the concluding prayers of  the Corona and the final blessings given by Rev. Father Gonzales. Rev. Fr. Dante O. Juloc, OSA and Rev. Fr. Edgardo L. Lazo, OSA also graced the event.

The launching of the Corona of Our Lady of Consolation institutionally opened the Month of the Rosary dedicated to our Blessed Mother. This also aimed to introduce to the whole CSA-Biñan community the way rosary is prayed in the Augustinian tradition.
