Augustinian Variety Show in Full Force

The spirit of Unitas was clearly shown in the recently concluded Augustinian Variety Shown in Full Force held in the CSA Audigym last December 4, 2014. The event showcased singing, dancing, modeling, and acting prowess of the different departments of the institution. Amidst colorful lights and costumes, a powerful singing number of Disney classics such as Under the Sea, Reflections, and Let It Go which were sang by Mr. Michael Rodriguez, Ms. Feji Maglangit and Ms. Alex Agagon wowed the crowd at the start of the show. Next on stage was the play showing people’s way of living and popular hit songs and shows through the years. The Bailagos danced folk and other alternative songs. The crowd returned into the 80s era with Himnayon’s rendition of Mr. DJ and Dulaang Kruhay’s reenactment of shows like Batibot, Flor de Luna, Ana Liza, etc. For the 90s period, selected pre-school students danced to songs like Always and Ang TV hits among others. An alumna, Ms. Iona Ventocilla, sang Lani Mesalucha’s Bukas na lang Kita Mamahalin. After this, Grade School Deparment made a shadowplay of the humble beginnings of the school.Modern day hit songs were danced by the Parents Association followed by the International Students Center students. Glimpses of the Junior High School faculty’s immersion activity were being shown while a performance from the JHS band was happening. For the College Department, a preview of their upcoming play, Katipunan, was presented. The Non-teaching Personnel showed snapshots of Augustinians rising beyond calamities and providing relief operations to the community.

The place was filled with excitement and laughter as selected personnel from the Sports Office and Maintenance Department had their presentations. Mr. Mike Ranas danced to an indigenous rite which later on became a Jollibee commercial, “Ate Princess” made a humorous lip sync of “I don’t Wanna Miss a Thing and another guest performer had a comedic horror portrayal of “I’ll Always Love You.” Towards the end, selected students from the JHS strutted down the catwalk for a modeling of future Senior High School uniforms and creative haute couture while the different tracks for the SHS curriculum and other details were being explained. Directed by Mr. Rocky R. Costales and headed by Rev. Fr. Dante O. Juloc, OSA, the variety show summarized the history of CSA at 30 and what it promises to deliver for more years to come.
