National Augustinian Educators Congress


It was a moment like no other as Augustinian educators from different areas of the country unite to empower themselves with innovative ideas and insight in the first ever National Augustinian Educators Congress held last February 10 to 12. Held at the CSA Audigym, this three-day event used the same theme for the 30th Foundation Anniversary “Sustaining Excellence, Upholding Transformation, Envisioning Global Competence.”

The first day started with a Eucharistic celebration with School President Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA as the main celebrant. This was eventually followed by the keynote address from Ms. Rhodora Angela F. Ferrer, the Executive Director from Fund Assistance to Private Education (FAPE). In the afternoon, Dr. Amelia G. Ronquillo, Directress for the Academic Affairs Integrated Basic Education of CSA-Makati talked about Creativity and Innovation in Teaching and Learning Process. To end the day’s session was the dynamic talk about 21st Century Skills for Educators of Dr. Allan B. De Guzman.

The second day was also filled with a lot of activities starting once again with a Eucharistic celebration with Rev. Fr. Arnel Antonio S. Dizon, OSA, the school’s VP for Academic Affairs/Principal as the main celebrant. Then, a talk from Rev Sr. Cecilia C. Ibana, OSA, Vicar General for the Augustinian Sisters of Our Lady of Consolation about the Integration of Augustinian Values. Next comes the talk on Augustinian Pedagogy of University of San Agustin President Rev Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, OSA on Augustinian Pedagogy. Lastly, Dr. Roland Niño L. Agoncillo, Chair for Educational Leadership and Management Department from the De La Salle University gave his expertise on Educational/ Transformational Leadership. The day ended with fellowship/socials with song numbers from selected students and amongst some participants. The third and last day started with a morning praise. The sole speaker for the day was Rev. Fr. Gary McCloskey, OSA who came from the Federation of Augustinians of North America in Pennsylvania, USA who discussed about the Augustinian Educational System. The day ended with a Eucharistic Celebration of Very Rev. Fr. Eusebio B. Berdon, OSA, the Prior Provincial for the Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu-Philippines.

The varied topics in improving the Augustinian education had opened doors of infinite possibilities among the participants which serve as inspiration on the way back to their respective institutions.
