CSA @30 Weeklong Activities

Augustinians witnessed a series of grand activities since the start of February 2014 to jumpstart the yearlong 30th anniversary celebration of the institution. What better off to culminate this momentous event than through a series of never-before-seen activities in its weeklong celebration which transpired last February 23 to March 1, 2015.

DAY 1

The weeklong activities started last February 23 with a motorcade around the school’s nearby communities. The event showcased colourful floats and vehicles showcasing Unitas among the different departments and associations of the institution. Emerging as the best among the best was the float beautifully crafted by the Grade School Department. After this event, the blessing of the rides and booths by Rev. Fr. Edgardo L. Lazo, OSA took place in the CSA Field. The school opened its doors to thrill seekers with various rides such as Octopus, Velocity Swing, Go Kart Mini Racers, and Inflatables such as the Combo Slide, Octagon and Mega Challenge. There were also Fun Games like Dart Balloon, Basketball, Knock d’ blocks, Bowling, Magnetic Duck and Angry Bird.

DAY 2

Augustinians showcased once more their prowess in dancing and singing with the recently concluded A-Voice and A-Steps Competitions held last February 24 in the audigym. The event was divided into two categories: Elementary and Junior High School/College Levels, both in singing and in dancing.

DAY 3

The College Department sponsored a Food Expo 2015 entitled “30 Flavors of Agustinnovation” last February 26-27 at the audi-canteen. This event showcased the students’ skills in mocktail mixing demonstration, bottle flaring demonstration, as well as siomai and leche flan making lessons during the first day. For the second day, another bottle flaring, cookie and cupcake making lessons took place. The movie The Chef was also shown.



DAY 4

Next in the series of activities comes the Closing Program which occurred last February 27. This had started with a Thanksgiving Mass at the Sto. Niño de Cebu Parish from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. School personnel, selected students, alumni, parents, priests and distinguished guests attended the Eucharistic celebration with Very Rev. Fr. Eusebio B. Berdon, OSA as the main celebrant.

Afterwhich, the program proper took place in the school’s audigym. A creative presentation of Dulaang Kruhay jumpstarted the program which gave a preview on the rich history of the institution. This was followed by a production number from select CSA personnel. Glimpses of the yearlong activities happened next with the placing of 30 symbolic icons on a glass board by the different [email protected] Committees-in-charge. The launching of the Coffee table book followed with the school president Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA unveiling a copy of the book. The creation of the book was headed by Dr. Carmen L. Yupangco.

After the launching, everyone savoured the sumptuous dinner while watching a splendid high quality documentary video of the vibrant history of Colegio San Agustin. The film viewing committee is headed by Mrs. Lorina M. Velasco. After the dinner, awarding ceremonies ensued. Winners for the Call for Research were announced with the College Department as the overall winner. The past presidents of the institutions, pioneer personnel, songwriter for the 30th Foundation theme song, [email protected] Committees-in-charge were also recognized and awarded. Then, everyone joined in the community singing of the 30th Foundation theme song CSA Shines Like Pearls. The night commenced with everyone adoring a majestic fireworks display while the 30ththeme song was being played.

 

DAY 5

A colourful and festive field demonstration from the different grade and year levels of the institution transpired last Saturday, February 28 in the CSA Field. A parade of participants and colors opened the event. For the presentation proper, CSA personnel demonstrated the story of the 450th Year of Augustinian Presence in the Philippines. Then, different performances about the colourful festivals in the country and in the world were done by the Preschool, Grade School, College and Junior High School Departments. Emerging as the Champions for the event were the Grade 1 for the Primary Level, Grade 4 for the Intermediate Level and Grade 9 for the Junior High School Department. Grade 9 level was also declared Best in Parade. By six o’clock of the same day, alumni from different batches joined together for the #ultimatethrowback: The Grand Alumni Reunion. The event presented various activities such as an opening number from CSA Bailagos Dance Company and CSA Raptors, song number, documentary film viewing, AVP of messages from teachers, video messages from alumni abroad, alumni performance and raffle. Spearheaded by the CSA-Biñan Alumni Association President Mr. Clint Catalan and Alumni Office in-Charge Mr. Roel Villamor, the event provided a venue not only for the reunion amongst alumni but socialization with their former mentors as well.




DAY 6

To wrap everything up, the Parents Association spearheaded last March 1 the Augustinian Family Day, a day full of excitement, fun and togetherness among family members.The event started off with a Eucharistic celebration. For the rest of the day, several activities were in-store for participants such as health and wellness activity, raffle, bingo, water zorb, zipline, bazaar, land zorb/wall climbing, mechanical bull, and bungee trampoline. The busy day commenced with a spectacular fireworks display during the evening.
