Personnel Community Immersion (Junior High School Department, International Student Center)

November 21, 2014 is an unforgettable day for the 30 selected educators from the Junior High School Department and International Students Center as they organized a personnel community immersion in Mary Mother of Mercy Home for the Elderly and Abandoned located in San Pedro, Laguna. During his opening remarks, school president Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA discussed about the vital role of the elderlies in imparting wisdom to the community. With this, the group gifted and honored the elderlies with quality time and entertainment. The area was filled with laughter due the endless jokes of the emcees, Mr. Rocky R. Costales and Mrs. Michelle R. Dee. The personnel also prepared Zumba exercises and sang Videoke songs in which some elderlies participated. At the end of the day, the elderlies were treated to  a bowl of hot lugaw and bread, and given bracelets for tokens. What touched the hearts of the personnel most was their personal encounter with around sixteen elderlies, hearing their stories of sadness, laughter, and gratitude. It might have been a two-hour encounter but these memories lay an imprint on the hearts of the participants.

This activity is the third batch among the series of community immersion activities spearheaded by the Community Outreach Program Committee for the CSA-Biñan’s Pearl Anniversary.

Grand Play

The Center for Performing Arts, in celebration of CSA-Biñan’s 30th Founding Anniversary, presented a grand play entitled Gusting: D’ Dancecical from November 13-15 2014 in the CSA Audigym. Written and directed by Mr. Edmon R. Semaña of the Pre-School Department, the play depicts a parallelism to the life of St. Augustine. It creatively portrays Gusting’s journey in search of truth and happiness, experiencing confusion and pain along the process, until his long quest leads him to ultimate contentment – serving God through a religious life as a seminarian.

The play showcased the talents in singing, dancing and acting of both Augustinian students and faculty from the different departments of the institution. Mr. Evan Kyle V. Leal of the College Department played the role of Gusting. Other lead roles include Ms. Ana Lina B. Erazo as Gusting’s mother, Ms.  Feji L. Maglangit as Gusting’s love interest, and Mr.  Earl Daniel L. Quitlong as Gusting’s bestfriend.
