Social Issues Forum on Environment PDF Print E-mail

The Community Outreach Program Committee for the 30 Foundation Celebration spearheaded the Social Issues Forum on Environment last July 4, 2014 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in San Agustin Hall. A guest speaker from the Environmental Management Bureau of Laguna province, Ms. Verna Oandasan, shared her expertise on the Ecological Waste Management Act and other proper waste management practices. Participants for this event include 60 students and personnel from the different departments of the institution.

 

 
Tree Planting Activity

As part of the environmental advocacy of the school, the Community Outreach Program Committee for the 30th Foundation Celebration together with the Junior High School, Senior High School and College Departments started a series of tree replanting activities last July 12, 2014. Sixty students and teachers from the said departments planted saplings from 5:00 to 9:00 in the morning along Ragasa Compound located in Brgy. Parian, Calamba City, Laguna. This activity was in partnership with the Department of Natural Resources-Penro Los Baños.

 

 
Personnel Immersion (Non-Teaching Personnel , Pre-school Department)

It was a meaningful day for the non-teaching personnel and Pre-School Department of the institution as they participated in an immersion activity with the abandoned children of Mo. Teresa Spinelli House of Prayer at Tagaytay City last April 24, 2014. The personnel prepared fun games, food and tokens for the children. This undertaking is the first among the series of immersion activities spearheaded by the Community Outreach Program Committee for the CSA-Biñan’s Pearl Anniversary.

MARCH 01, 2014

FAMILY DAY

March 1, 2014 is an extraordinary day for Augustinians as it held the annual Family Day to promote love, oneness and strong bond with one another. The program started at 8 o’clock in the morning. An Early Bird Award was given to one family per team for being punctual. Other special awards like Best Cheers and Yells, Most Active and Most Disciplined were given. Selected pupils in each grade presented a special dance number. Then, everyone enjoyed eating together fun shots, spaghetti, puto and pancit. After the break, games like sack race, unity walk, and gutter ball relay were played. Prizes received by the winners during the awarding ceremonies added excitement to the activity. At twelve noon, everyone went home happy upon understanding that the true essence of family is love, unity, and strong bond.


FEBRUARY 24, 2014

Various activities held last February 24, 2014 became the onset of the 30thPearl Anniversary celebration of the school. A Eucharistic celebration was held by his Most Rev. Buenaventura Malayo Famadico, DD, bishop of the Diocese of San Pablo in the Audigym during the morning. Afterwards, the grand launching of the 30th Anniversary happened with the presentation of different committees through interpretive dances and songs of Augustinian students and personnel. The plan of activities for the coming months was also presented by the Central Executive Board. The groundbreaking ceremony of the St. Monica Hall, the future Senior High School building, eventually followed. This was led by Bishop Famadico, Biñan City Mayor Marlyn Alonte-Naguiat, CSA-Biñan President Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA and the Prior Provincial Rev. Fr. Eusebio B. Berdon, OSA. The activity was witnessed by the Grades 7 and 8, the future occupants of the buildings. The Rides and Booths Fair in the CSA Field were also opened on the same day. More activities that celebrate the school’s foundation anniversary will be in store for the next academic year.

FEBRUARY 26, 2014

CLUB EXTRAVAGANZA & PAMAYAW 2014

Club Extravaganza , an annual assembly of all Grade School Department clubs, happened last February 26, 2014 in the CSA Audigym. The program started with a Doxology led by St. Rita’s Choir and Lectors and Commentators Ministry. Then, the different performances of other clubs followed. This was started by Roses of St. Rita and Friends of St. Augustine followed with a dance number from the Kalinangan Dance Troupe of Grades 1 to 4, song number by the Book Lover’s Club, and another dance presentation from the Junior Augustinian Chefs. Mr. Michael Rodriguez had the closing prayer. Overall, the day was a success with all clubs being able to bring out the best in the students’ talents and skills. Pamayaw 2014, on the other hand, is a folk dance competition spearheaded by the GS Department held in the CSA Covered Court. With the theme “ Pamanang Sayaw sa mga Batang Agustino,” the event became a display of dancing prowess of Grade 5 pupils last January 30, grades 2-3 and 6 on February 6 and Grades 1 and 4 on February 10. Primary levels were assigned to folk song interpretation while the intermediate level was given folk dance contest. Grade 1 pupils interpreted the song Paru-parong Bukid,  Magtanim ay Di Biro for Grade 2 and Leron Leron Sinta for Grade 3. For the intermediate level, Tiklos was danced by the Grade 4 students, Cariñosa by Grade 5 and 6.

The culminating activity was held last February 26, 2104 at the CSA Audi-gym.

 

A-VOICE and A-STEPS Contests

Augustinians showcased their talents in A-VOICE and A-STEPS Contests held last February 26, 2014 in CSA Audigym. The two contests were sponsored by the Center for Performing Arts, Culture and Studies. A-VOICE is an individual singing contest while A-STEPS featured various dance groups from the Junior High School and College Departments. Eunice Gerona of the JHS Department emerged as the champion in A-VOICE while the College Department group won in A-STEPS.


 

OPENING OF LIKHA

A creative display of the artworks and projects of Junior High School Department’s students were shown through the L.I.K.H.A. Exhibit held last February 26-28, 2014 in front of the CSA Canteen. During the opening ceremony on February 26, Rev. Fr. Arnel Antonio Dizon, OSA and Rev. Fr. Andrew P. Batayola, OSA led the cutting of the ribbons. L.I.K.H.A. is an acronym for Likas at Ipinagmamalaking Kakayanan ng mga Huwarang Agustino that showcases different activities made by the students in different subjects and levels.

CPACS SHOW "BROADWAY UNPLUGGED"

Music filled the air of CSA Audigym last February27, 2014 as the Center for Performing Arts and Culture Studies presented the show entitled Broadway Unplugged. The musical variety show featured Broadway classics such as Cats, Hairspray, and Phantom of the Opera.Members of Katribo, Dulaang Kruhay, Himnayon, CSA Raptors and Bailagos creatively presented songs and dances that relived Broadway music.

INDIVIDUAL SPEECH CONTEST

GS BEQUEATHAL CEREMONY

The 13th Annual Bequeathal Ceremony was held last February 28, 2014 in the GS Quadrangle. A traditional event of having the Grade 6 pass on the legacies to Grade 5 students, the bequeathal is a social gathering for teachers and students. Rev. Fr. Arnel Antonio S. Dizon, OSA delivered the inspirational message. After which, the passing –on of the five symbols and legacies – The Heart of Charity, Key of Responsibility, Light of Life, Last Will and Testament and Trophy of Excellence took place. The turnover was followed by the Candle Light Ceremony while the song “One Little Candle” was being sung. After this, the students sang and danced the community song “Don’t Stop Believing,” followed by the Tribute to teachers song “A Special Memory” and an AVP entitled “Remembering our Legacy” for the Grade 6 pupils. For the awarding, Josh Charles Revilloza and Frances Margarette Alcasid were awarded as Prince and Princess of Bequeathal, Justin Ken Alain Coralejo and Carmela Gabriel as Mr. and Ms. Bequeathal. For the special awards, Cedric Adajar and Mary Angelika Mendoza received Stars of the Night for Grade 5 while Jerrel Feraer and Ronneth Quinones for Grade 6.Gabrielle Dinco and Sebastian Orille of Grade 5 as well as Rei Oyama and Psalm Moreno of Grade 6 were named as Faces of the Night. The Bequeathal might have been a warm tribute to the Grade 6 pupils and a new responsibility to the Grade 5 but above all, it was a delightful and memorable night for all.
